Role Summary/Purpose

The Safety Programs Oversight Leader is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive oversight program to assess safety program effectiveness including compliance with regulatory, license, business, and insurance requirements. These include unique Nuclear programs, such as Criticality Safety, Radiological Safety, Material Control & Accountability, Emergency Preparedness & Security, and standard EHS programs, such as Industrial Safety, Fire Protection, and Environmental Safety.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Safety Programs Oversight Leader, you will:

• Develop / maintain an Independent Oversight process for safety programs, providing assessment of compliance with regulatory, license, business, and insurance requirements
• Use a risk based approach, and leverage existing teams and subject matter experts, to assess compliance
• Leverage the Corrective Action Program to identify risk areas and to address non-compliance
• Lead continuous improvement of the Independent Oversight process
• Work proactively with the Safety Program teams and business organizations to plan, perform, and follow-up on audit and assessment activities
• Develop checklists, reports, and supporting materials for performance of audits, assessments, presentations, and training as needed
• Professionally represent GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy in the support of customer and regulatory audits / visits and other external organizations
• Demonstrate and support strong Nuclear safety culture behaviors
• Apply safety and technical knowledge, best practices, lessons learned, and practical experience to the analysis, investigation, and solution of complex program and process conditions to assure that prompt and effective action is taken to prevent or, as necessary, resolve safety program / performance issues

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear) or in a technical discipline from an accredited university or college
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in an EHS group, preferably supporting a nuclear business (e.g., Reactor site, Fuel Fabricator)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability and willingness to travel to other GEH or customer facilities / sites 10% of the time
