Math Tutor/Math Instructor - Part-time

Mathnasium of Flower Mound is a learning center in our community that provides supplementary math instruction for students in grades 2 to 12 in a positive and encouraging environment. We currently have part-time employee positions open for passionate and talented math instructors.

A Mathnasium Instructor position is an opportunity for students who wish to apply their math and teaching abilities to help children succeed. Curriculum and materials are predetermined for each student based on the student’s strengths and problem areas. Applicants must have strong math skills and be positive, energetic, motivating, and able to communicate professionally with parents and students of all ages.

As a successful Instructor, you will:

• Teach using Mathnasium based programs
• Interact with and motivate students during the instruction hour
• Evaluate and document student progress
• Communicate students’ needs to the Center Director
• Reward students for completed assignments
• Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment
• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching math
• Assist in keeping the center clean and orderly (before, during and after instruction hours)

Qualifications:

• Mathematics competency based on Mathnasium skills assessment
• Enthusiasm for mathematics
• Good social and communication skills
• Willingness to learn the Mathnasium teaching method through on the job training

Schedule:

• This is a part-time position varying from about 6 to 25 hours per week, depending on the programs you are able to instruct and your availability.
• Mathnasium instructors typically work between 6 and 16 hours per week. We offer a flexible work schedule (afternoons/evenings) and can accommodate students’ academic and other professional commitments.

Learning Center Hours:

• Spring/Fall Hours: Monday – Thursday: 3pm-7:30pm; Friday: 3pm-6pm; Sunday: 2pm-7pm
• Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday: 2pm-7pm, Friday: 10am-2:30pm

Compensation:

• Compensation starts at $10/hour, based on experience and math competency
• Frequent opportunities for raises based on completion of training​
