Role Summary:

The Senior Designer will prepare, in close association with the Plant Arrangement / Piping Engineering department, design layout and detailed Piping Arrangement; and support design drawings and models to satisfy requirements and conditions of assigned contracts, proposals or related tasks. Site scoping trips may be needed to confirm routing clearances and arrangements.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Senior Designer, you will:

  • Prepare sketches, 3-D models, drawings and reference notes to support final contract or proposal drawings
  • Provide advice, training, and guidance to supporting drafters on preparation of arrangements, 3-D models, details and standard drawings to be used in the final contract drawings
  • Prepare contract drawings in accordance with the specified departmental procedures using CAD computer software (innovation and originality needed)
  • Review supplier and supporting drafting personnel drawings for conformance to customer specifications, approved practices, standards and applicable design governing that phase of work
  • Investigate non-conformances and recommend solutions
  • Act as a Piping Arrangement lead person for assigned projects, attend meetings, visit job sites or manufacturing facilities, provide scheduling input, hour and material estimates, drawing / document control, supplier audits / evaluations, and other coordination to fulfill contract requirements
  • Assemble, check, obtain approval and distribute contract drawings per task assignment details
  • Propose ways to increase effectiveness of drafting / modelling operations, such as introducing new technologies or modifying established practices and procedures
  • Interact with manufacturing facilities, as directed by contract instructions, to transmit drawings, requisitions or related material in fulfilling specified contract requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 2 years of drafting / design experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with AutoCad 2D and 3D software

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with Aveva PDMS and/or other plant modeling software
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels
  • Ability to multi task
