Business Systems Analyst

Electronic Systems (ES), headquartered in Arlington, Texas, is one of four L3 business segments, and provides a broad range of components, products, subsystems, systems and related services for military and commercial customers. We are searching for a Business Systems Analyst.

We are seeking a Deltek Business and Systems Analyst to be a part of the L3 Technologies, Maritime team. The Business and Systems Analyst will need a strong working knowledge of accounting, finance, materials, and operational management systems to effectively conduct analysis of business operations, support Deltek system deployment and maintenance, and associated enhanced systems. We are seeking a candidate that takes ownership of assigned issues and follows through on commitments, possesses a solid working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint, and who continually broadens and deepens product, technical, and implementation skills. The candidate should be able to work independently, handle multiple projects at a time and effectively manage time, while paying close attention to detail and accuracy. The candidate should have exceptional oral and written communication skills along with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

The Business and Systems Analyst will also:

  • Assist with maintenance on Deltek Costpoint and Deltek Time & Expense applications in a SQL environment.
  • Perform installation, configuration, administration, patching/upgrades and tuning of software applications
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance on software application-related issues
  • Coordinate application vendors on technical issues, upgrades, licensing and maintenance renewals
  • Partner with IT team members to ensure solid redundancy, recoverability and documentation exist for all critical business systems
  • Ensure consistency of data, compliance with processes, assist with deployments and ongoing enhancements.
  • Assist with configuration of the system and interfaces with external systems.
  • Assist Operations and Finance teams with oversight and maintenance of various applications/tools including financial/operations management systems.
  • Support the organization to identify, define, document, and prioritize requirements of information systems.
  • Create and maintain process documentation as well as other system documentation per company policy and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Apply basic data quality techniques to ensure quality of data across IT systems. Report findings and provide recommendations to improve quality of data.
  • Configure, test, document and implement systems or software.
  • Determine work priorities in accordance with project plans, project schedules, changing work demands and company policies, practices, and priorities.
  • Resolve routine system issues and challenges by identifying possible alternatives and provide recommendations.
  • Research software implementation issues and provide detail and preliminary recommendations.
  • With proper guidance and approval, modify and document the modifications of routine work processes, techniques, methods, and practices to accomplish specific work assignments.

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze financial and operational data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • 2 years related Business Analyst experience.
  • Must have accounting, finance, and business operations experience.
  • Experience with Deltek CostPoint implementation.
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server with experience in creating PL/SQL scripts, query optimization, stored procedures, triggers and SQL Server Integration Services.
  • Experience in interacting with end users to gather and document requirements.
  • Experience with Deltek Cobra and Cognos BI is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate throughout all levels of an organization.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
