New York Cruise Lines is looking for a prolific and talented creative director who loves the written word to lead a nimble creative team. This dynamic role combines creative development with day-to-day oversight and tactical copywriting across six consumer brands and multiple platforms and channels. The successful candidate will be able to seamlessly shift between managing a design team, developing creative ideas and creating or editing engaging and effective marketing copy.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as the brand champion, successfully stewarding tone, expression and personality in both design and words.
  • Conceptualize and manage execution of innovative and effective campaigns for a variety of projects including marketing campaigns, advertising, web / digital / mobile assets, email campaigns and sales collateral.
  • Champion new ideas and articulate business and artistic rationale to support creative concepts and directions.
  • Oversee the development of a broad range of creative work including print/digital assets, video, general public and charter brochures, trade show materials, OOH graphics, display advertising, in-house graphics, etc.
  • Write and edit clear and compelling copy and headlines for a wide range of print, digital and OOH marketing communications - including brochures, ad copy, website, cruise descriptions, email campaigns, sales collateral, etc.
  • Evolve, elevate and enforce our six consumer facing brands, including tone, voice and visual design systems.
  • Manage a small team of visual designers and freelancers.
  • Coach marketing team members on the basics of effective headlines and copywriting.
  • Program manage design projects including selecting, hiring and managing agencies, outside contractors, photographers and internal teams as required.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to articulate audience specific stories and programs using outstanding creative to support specific products, programs and initiatives.
  • Develop a solid understanding of and articulate NYCL brands, products and audiences.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent consumer copywriter and editor with ability to switch effortlessly between advertising, marketing and sales copy across multiple brands and platforms.
  • A polished portfolio of solid campaigns, corporate branding examples, campaigns, articles, blogs, or work in other relevant digital channels.
  • Passion for tourism, entertainment, hospitality a plus.
  • Proven ability managing design teams and mentoring junior talent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present concepts and work to all levels in the organization.
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented self-starter that can juggle multiple projects and overlapping deadlines.
  • “Can do” entrepreneurial personality that thrives in a high-paced, deadline driven and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing team and personal deadlines with both immediate and longer time horizons.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience with strong track record of delivering successful print and digital campaigns and programs.
