We are currently seeking a professional Technical Writer to join this expanding team. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating technical documents and manuals, training materials, technical proposal development, explain complex information in a clear and concise manner and working with engineering and program management staff to ensure accuracy of product descriptions. If you have experience as a Technical Writer in the aircraft, UAV or advanced technology industry, we encourage you to submit an application.

You will demonstrate success by:

  • Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures, maintenance manuals and training curriculum materials

  • Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts

  • Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals

  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation

  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content

  • Configuration manage updates and revisions to technical manuals

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working in a technical writing position

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Existing DoD clearance with current 5 year update with the ability to obtain and maintain additional clearances
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • The ability to write in a clear, concise, and precise manner and to be able to convey information appropriately for the anticipated audiences.

  • Strong interviewing and listening skills to obtain knowledge from technical Subject Matter Experts.

  • Experience authoring DoD technical manuals IAW MIL-STD-38784, -DTL-87929, and –DTL-38807.

  • Experience in authoring operation, maintenance, and repair manuals as well as training manuals addressing these three areas.

  • Experience with SGML and XML with publishing engines like ArborText.

  • Experience testing, validating and verifying technical manuals.

  • The willingness and enthusiasm to learn the operation of the products for which the manuals are written. Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking

Desired:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Ability to use CAD (Creo, SolidWorks, etc) to produce graphics for manuals
