About this job

This position is responsible for the accurate assistance
of pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to both in-patients and
out-patients. Computer entry and
processing of patient drug orders; sterile and non-sterile preparations of
liquids and solid dosage forms; care and ordering of supplies and equipment;
training of trainees; processing of admittance, discharge and transfer of
patient drugs; restocking of automated dispensing machines; nursing unit
inspections; performing miscellaneous related tasks.

Pharmacy Tech II will have expanded job duties that
require higher level of skill and professionalism. Along with all of the listed
above Tech I responsibilities, the Tech II will perform compounding of
chemotherapy and other high risk sterile compounds. This employee will be
primarily responsible for wholesaler ordering, physician office ordering,
accounts payable and other administrative duties as assigned by Pharmacy
Director and Pharmacy Managers. Education:

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred. The
candidate must hold a Texas State Board of Pharmacy license. The candidate
should have successfully completed the sterile products training curriculum
mandated by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and be ACPE accredited.

Licenses/Certificates:

Registration- Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Certification- Sterile Compounding

Experience: 5
years of hospital pharmacy technician experience, with at least one year of
chemotherapy compounding experience preferred.

Desirable
characteristics include a proficiency in written and verbal communications,
mathematical calculations, computer literate, possess ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationship with others; and an ability to perform within
time frame without loss of accuracy. Must be able to follow directions and to
perform work according to department standards when no directions are
given. Must be able to function
effectively under stress.
