Job Summary

We are in the process of selecting candidatesto fill open positions in the combined company followingCenturyLink s acquisition of Level 3 Communications.

The Associate Sales Engineer isa technical resource supporting multiple account teams, primarilyin the small and medium size business segment. They areresponsible for technical and business requirements discovery,telecommunications and CPE solution design/engineering/consulting,proposal preparation support and technical presentations tocustomers for CenturyLink's full suite of products andsolutions.

Job Description

  • Performs customerdiscovery discussions to understand and document business needs anddesign requirements necessary for the formulation of optimalsolutions.
  • Alters the design as needed toresult in the customer choosing CenturyLink Solutions includingManaged Hosting Services, Cloud Virtualization, OutsourcedInfrastructure Solutions (managed and un-managed), and specializedEnterprise application suites.
  • Pre-salesdesign and implementation expertise in CPE and Enterprise/WANservice integrations.
  • Documents, via diagramsand writing, and presents the solution to the customer, describesthe benefits of the solution and build relationships withcustomers.
  • Participates in strategic andtactical account planning.
  • Follows industrytechnology trends through self-study and formal training and sharesthat knowledge with customers.
  • Understandspower, cooling and other environmental constraints on a client'soutsourced infrastructure.
  • Clearlycommunicates the customer design to the teams responsible forordering, implementation and ongoing support.
  • Contributes to & leads technical training anddevelopment support to the local branch(s).
  • Mentoring the Associate Sales Engineer s
  • Leads internal cross-functional teams to obtain requiredapprovals of non-standard designs for customers.
  • Performs customer discovery discussions to understand anddocument business needs and design requirements necessary for theformulation of optimal solutions.
  • Creativelydesigns solutions for customers using the best mix of CenturyLinkand vendor-partner products.
  • Buildsrelationships with customers by serving as the technical liaisonfor pre-sales to post-sales, with the goal of being the customer'strusted advisor.
  • Responsible for growingstrategic product sales and revenue through proactive engagementwith customers.
  • Partner with sales managementto help increase sales forecast accuracy, prioritize engagementsbased on needs of the customer and the business unit.
  • TechnicalKnowledge:

    Strong understandingof:

  • Business applications includingSaaS (O365, CRM, ERP, etc) & infrastructure s/workloadsincluding premise and cloud/hybrid based;Servers/VMware/AWS/Azure/CLC etc.
  • IP routingand switching
  • CPE includingFirewalls/Routers/Switches/WAP s
  • SD-WAN/NFV,Internet and MPLS-VPN architectures
  • Security& storage including premise and cloud basedfirewalls/anti-virus/NAS/Cloud based back up services
  • Voice services; Hosted VoIP, TDM and VoIP technologies aswell as related voice products
  • Transportincluding DS1/DS3, SONET, OWS and Ethernet technologies and relatedproducts.

    Qualifications

    Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related fieldand/or 2-4 years of experience with CenturyLink Products andSystems, in CPE or related service provider experience.
  • Ability to understand internetworking designs and theirapplications, to include CPE, Managed Hosting Service, Cloud,Virtualization, Software Defined WAN, Network FunctionsVirtualization, Subnetting and Routing Techniques on LAN/WANnetworks, IP Telephony, Security, Network Diversity Applicationsand other technical skills mentioned above.
  • Consultative selling and customer questioning techniquesto identify new opportunities to sell within existing accounts andmaintain the role of trusted advisor to both the customer and thesales team.
  • Effective presentation,analytical, communications and customer relationshipskills.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word,Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Projectmanagement skills.
  • Ability to workautonomously on multiple projects and associateddeliverables.
  • Time management skills are acritical requirement.
  • Must have a validdriver's license with satisfactory driving record.
