Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Business Process Advisory Services Consultant will have a passion for imparting their knowledge and expertise in clinical documentation improvement to both their customers and their internal team members as well as providing innovative solutions to solve customers' business opportunities.

The Consultant will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of BPR and optimization activities through client workflow training and post-optimization adoption monitoring for 3M HIS clients engaged in consulting services projects. Process improvements are identified and brought forward for action to the appropriate I&T, Client Services, Marketing, or Development teams, thus driving toward complete customer satisfaction. This individual will continue routine monitoring and follow-up to ensure client is satisfied with their 3M solution(s). This individual will communicate findings/results at the executive level within the client organization.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Process redesign, change management, and recommended staffing for existing HIM, Quality, and CDI
  • Assist with training in use of 3M 360 Encompass and related modules (CAC, CDIS, Quality, MD, etc.) software and 3M Coding and Reimbursement System
  • Deliver classroom based and web-based training in the use of 3M 360 Encompass software and reports
  • Instruction on creation and interpretation of reports within 360 Encompass
  • Fluent in 3M Coding and Reimbursement System application, coding and clinical education around documentation requirements for CDI and Quality Programs
  • Coding knowledge and coding education as it relates to documentation and quality improvement and ICD-10 Data Analysis
  • Assume responsibility, with oversight, for engagements that are typically small to medium scale with the risk confined to the project and low to moderate business impact
  • Providing education on and working with related 3M products and consulting service delivery, as well as specialty programs related to individual areas of expertise
  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M's values and ethical standards

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess an Associate's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution? and/or three (3) years of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of five (5+) combined years healthcare work experience in either the HIM or EHR industry
  • Minimum of five (5+) combined years of direct client engagement
  • Minimum of two (2+) years Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience
  • Minimum of one (1+) years of experience in end-user software implementation and training
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or RN license
  • ICD-10 Certified
  • CCDS or CDIP Certification
  • Inpatient coding experience/knowledge
  • Outpatient coding experience/knowledge
  • Ambulatory/Pro Fee coding experience/knowledge
  • Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience
  • Healthcare Quality Improvement experience
  • Acute care hospital or healthcare consulting experience
  • Knowledge of internal 3M HIS organization and structure
  • Familiar with 3M software, programs and technologies
  • Proven ability to maintain superior customer and employee relations in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to find creative solutions and manage difficult situations with diplomacy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meets deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to assure goals are met
  • Must have strong business acumen, strategic thinking, presentation skills, training skills, and be creative and innovative
  • The successful candidate will exhibit strong teamwork and collaboration, interpersonal skills, professionalism, sound judgment, dependability, and a strong work ethic

Travel: May include up to 75% domestic
