Maintenance Engineer

The Maintenance Engineer is required to have a proven background in Maintenance/Engineering with strong Guest Service skills. Technical proficiency in at least one of HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Electrical or Carpentry is sought.

Hotel Overview: Fairmont Pittsburgh, a 4 diamond LEED certified luxury hotel, is located at the heart of Pittsburgh's business, cultural and retail hub. Fairmont Pittsburgh offers superb and distinctive guest services and accommodations in a luxury setting.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Consistently offer professional, engaging and friendly service.

  • Take an active, positive role within the Hotel.

  • Maintain a professional appearance.

  • Participate in pre-shift briefings and monthly meetings to ensure open lines of communication.

  • Support all recycling and green initiatives.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and spotless hotel.

  • Review daily arrival reports, ensuring proper preparation for shift.

  • Work closely with all Departments to ensure all areas are in new condition at all times.

  • Executes emergency plan in the event of an emergency.

  • Executes preventative maintenance program including HVAC filters, general plumbing, painting, carpentry as required / assigned.

  • Assists with Hotel Key program – both locked out guests and hard key program.

  • Ensures rapid response to all requests.

  • Follows work order procedure and closes out appropriately.

  • Assists Chief Engineer with project management.

  • Follows all appropriate Safety guidelines and utilizes appropriate PPE at all times.

  • Able to perform basic troubleshooting of all maintenance/engineering calls and escalate appropriately.

  • Assists guests as required.

  • Maintain professional approach to all maintenance/engineering issues.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years' previous Engineering/Maintenance experience, preferably in a luxury environment
  • General Technical proficiency – Electric, Plumbing, HVAC, Carpentry, Paint
  • Excellent verbal communication and Service orientation

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Requires extended periods of standing and walking throughout shifts, as well as medium to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects.
