Boeing's Propulsion Systems Engineering provides design, development and certification of integrated engine, nacelle, strut, auxiliary power unit and fuel systems for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Position Responsibilities:
Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking experienced Propulsion Engineers who will be adaptable and willing to work in various roles to support Flight Engineering in the Puget Sound, WA area. Responsibilities in this role include:
- Defining requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems.
- Defining, analyzing and integrating the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the airplane.
- Developing specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated airplane systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Configuring or designing propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.
- Using various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.
- Defining and performing certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components.
- Supporting fielded systems to assure continued reliability. Developing concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.
- Working in a team environment under general direction.

Qualifications
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Knowledge and experience in design, analysis and certification of propulsion systems, engines, fuels, and auxiliary power systems is preferred.
- Bachelor of Science or higher degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
- Competency in some core engineering methods and tools that are used within the company. (CATIA, CFD, MATLAB, NPSS, or related tools)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in one or more of the following areas associated with the architecture, design or analysis in support of 14 CFR Part 25 certification of commercial airplanes are highly desired:
- Utilization of Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies throughout the product development lifecycle
- Mechanical or electrical/electronic component design, build and qualification testing
- Software design build and qualification testing
- Airplane fuel system architecture and design
- Turbine engine component design, build and qualification in support certification of turbine engines
- Developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, suppliers, peers, and other stakeholders
Typical Education/Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
