An Assistant Manager for Popingo's is responsible for serving customer needs in a courteous and professional manner.  The Assistant Manager assists in training, directing and supervising the store's Sales Associates.General Management•Develop and maintain a superior level of customer service by using professional and proper management techniques in all words and actions.•Direct store employees to adhere to established Company policies and procedures.•Train store employees in store operations policies and procedures.•Use the work order system to report any repair and maintenance problems that cannot be handled routinely by the Assistant Store Manager or other store personnel. •During the absence of the Store Manager, maintain scheduled hours of operation through adequately scheduling personnel for regular shifts and peak periods within the allotted budgeted hours.•During the absence of the Store Manager, handle any scheduling conflicts.  Consult the Director of Operations only after all avenues have been exhausted.•When scheduled, monitor calls when not working at the store (at night, on the weekend, during holidays).•Adhere to all city, parish and state Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco regulations.•Adhere to city, parish and state gambling regulations.•Assist the Store Manager in seeing that the store maintains a store-inspection grade of 100% on the store-inspection report.Security•Monitor physical facilities for compliance with Company safety guidelines and procedures.•Monitor and control the inventory in the store.•Follow Company policies regarding cash levels in registers and making safe drops.•Follow correct vendor check-in procedures.•Protect Company assets at all times.•Follow cash control policies and procedures for Brinks.•If necessary to go to the bank during the absence of the Store Manager, follow all security measures. (For example:  using different routes, be aware of surroundings, be discreet with cash, etc.)•Count cash out of the sight of the public.•Train store employees to adhere to all security policies and procedures.Bookkeeping•Review shift change reports daily.•Review employees’ time sheets or time clock punches, and verify all hours worked.•Verify the daily deposit by reconciling the register journal tapes to the shift reports detailing the sales and other transactions of the previous day.  Any over/ (short) should be explained.•Report daily to the office the store’s category sales and purchases through the use of the daily paperwork.•Retail any invoice that cannot be entered at the store level.•Reconcile the ATM machine cash balance daily.•Notify the Director of Operations of any material discrepancies in the operating results that you cannot reconcile.•Verify all voids and all refunds from daily transactions.Merchandising•Keep coolers, drink boxes, store shelves, and displays fully stocked and fronted at all times.•Properly clean and maintain equipment.•Use correct pricing as it appears in the store’s price book.  Any discrepancies should be reported to the Store Manager or Director of Operations.•Train and assist the store employees in the policy and procedures used to properly clean and maintain the equipment, and on fully stocking and fronting the coolers, drink boxes, store shelves and displays.•Notify Director of Operations of new merchandise product lines before accepting new merchandise or vendors.Maintenance•Keep store floor clean at all times.•Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance daily.•Check windows, floors, shelving, counters, restrooms and gas pumps to ensure they remain clean at all times.•Immediately notify the Director of Operations of maintenance problems that you cannot handle.•Train store employees to follow Company policies and procedures for cleaning floors, shelving, windows, counters, restrooms and gas pumps.•Train store employees to properly check refrigeration equipment.

Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1.	Be able to read, understand, and write the English language 12th-grade level.
2.	Be able to perform arithmetical calculations at the 12th-grade level in order to be able to make change, complete shift reports, and account for numbers of a variety of products during vendor check-in.
3.	Have sufficient visual acuity to check identification and process necessary transactions.
4.	Be able to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipment.
5.	Be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds in order to carry cases of milk cartons and soft drinks, beer and juice containers, etc. at least once per shift.
6.	Be able to bend, stoop, push and pull to stock shelves and coolers.
7.	Be able to sit/stand for up to a full eight-hour shift in the performance of job duties.
8.	Be able to use fingers bilaterally and unilaterally (one-handed) in the operation of store equipment such as cash registers, computers and adding machines.
9.	Be able to work around gasoline fumes, odors, and cleaning products.
10.	Be able to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 10 pounds and moving it to the fire area.
11.	Be able to climb a two to five foot ladder and maintain balance to clean windows and stock and arrange coolers and shelves, hang and or change signs in and around the store.
12.	Be able to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers and place in an outside bin.
13.	Be able to clean parking lot and grounds surrounding the convenience store.
14.	Be able to enter and work in a cooler at a temperature of 33 degrees up to 30 minutes at a time.
