General SummaryThe Business Development Manager is responsible for generating Business-to-Business sales through prospecting new customers and maintaining existing relationships.  The Business Development Manager will utilize both inside and outside selling techniques and train store personnel to assist with lead generation and relationship management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.Account Development•Strengthen relationships with existing business customers and increase their purchases.•Generate sales leads from potential new customers.•Manage a prospect list based on business customer prospects and follow up appropriately.•Create and maintain customer relationships.•Learn customer base by interviewing customers, visiting outside businesses, and understand critical buying         influences in the area.•Follow up with customers based on outside activities.•Conduct sales calls with current customers and prospects.•Monitor competition's pricing, product assortment, services, fees and marketing efforts.•Research quotes and orders.•Track and review customers purchases to identify trends and opportunities.Inventory•Validate inventory levels to meet expectations set with business customers.•Manage the sourcing of product for special orders and determine if demand warrants adding to store         inventory.•Process customer orders.•Ensure orders are received, maintained in designated area and customers are notified for pickup/delivery.•Manage supplies at customer location including inventory levels, create orders and deliver supplies based on         customer needs.Internal•Provide training to internal team members on product knowledge, selling skills and customer service.•Empower and involve store staff on all inside selling steps.•Coordinate with General Manager to develop inside selling culture and corresponding selling assets.          (i.e. Displays, Demos, Events, etc.)Education/TrainingHigh School or GED equivalent required; degree preferred.  Possess product knowledge of hardware/commercial/consumable products along with a willingness to learn.ExperienceSales experience with retail and/or business customers, ability to establish relationships with customers and fellow associates.  Outside sales experience and proven track record of success at cultivating new accounts and establishing profitable relationships.Skills /KnowledgeExcellent communication skills, ability to read customer personalities, organizational ability, high attention to detail, contact follow up, and strong management skills.  Analytical and pricing knowledge with the ability to conduct comparison analysis and make sound decisions a plus.  Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus.Physical DemandsStanding, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs) and climbing.
