Job Description

Position Overview:

Direct and organize the development and solicitation of business from all markets to ensure the necessary advance bookings needed for a successful and profitable operation for the hotel

Essential Job Functions:

  • Direct the solicitation efforts of the sales staff through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the Provide coaching, counseling, providing guidance and direction, correcting work, while motivating team to improve and maintain positive morale
  • Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly Forecast, Marketing Budget, Lead Management System, Booking Report, star reports and Sales Meeting minutes
  • Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective Internally promote Turn berry Hospitality programs
  • Meet with and entertain clients some of which will require travel
  • Initiate preparation of computerized annual Sales & Marketing Plan and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions
  • Responsible for property advertising and media scheduling in local market and North American market, in conjunction with the Corporate
  • Responsible for local and property specific public relations campaigns and activities in conjunction with the Corporate
  • Responsible for com Internet content and updates in conjunction with the Corporate Office.
  • Responsible for all marketing related issues as it relates to the product.
  • Organize and/or attend scheduled Sales Department and related meetings
  • Interview, hire, train, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate
  • Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and Turnberry Hospitality standards of performance are met.  Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • The employee may be expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description

  • Responsible for receiving, processing and investigating complaints made per the existing harassment.
Qualifications, Job knowledge, Experience, Skills, Abilities:
  • Pre-opening experience required
  • 4 Year College degree preferred in Hospitality or Business field
  • 3+ years of experience in hotel sales & marketing industry
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in wring, to respond to guest requests and give direction to co-workers
  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic
  • Extensive skill in development and delivery of sales
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions
  • Ability to perform accurate complex mathematical calculations
  • Maintain professionalism at all times, demonstrating courtesy and respect to guests and co-workers
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts and multitask
  • Ability to travel both locally and out of town for purposes of sales calls, meetings and training.
  • Must be available for evenings and weekends for business reasons including attending business/social functions, entertaining clients and oversight of sales & catering client bookings and events
