Position Overview

Equal Justice Works seeks interns for a ten-week period starting first week of June through August 10th. Equal Justice Works Summer interns will receive a stipend and have the opportunity to gain invaluable working experience with nonprofits, public interest law and federal programs. Each intern will be asked to perform a variety of duties below.  Interns will be expected to work up to 30 hours per week. We are looking for interns who can provide the organization with ten weeks of continuous work. Applications are due by March 16th.

Equal Justice Works is seeking a Digital Content Intern who will be responsible for developing and delivering compelling content that will effectively drive awareness and strengthen our brand.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Draft engaging high-value content and explore creative ways to share content across a range of communications platforms
  • Research best practices on how to optimize content performance and how to elevate existing communications strategies
  • Monitor news outlets and discussions on social media channels to look for new content ideas
  • Carry out collateral audit and identify untapped opportunities to showcase our work
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews in collaboration with department staff
  • Maintain media contacts database and research new media contacts/publications
  • Assist department staff with brand rollout plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Excellent writing skills, proofreading, and copyediting skills
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively
  • Familiarity with new and emerging social media platforms
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • A sense of humor

Education and Experience Required:

  • Relevant undergraduate education experience

Stipend:

  • Interns that commit to working for a term of ten weeks will be given a stipend of $2,400 dollars. Disbursed in two payments, the first payment will be disbursed two weeks into the internship and the last payment will be disbursed during the last week of the internship.
  • This position is not available for course credit.
