About this job

HVAC/Refrigeration mechanic is responsible for resolving customer complaints and concerns regarding HVAC/R items. Primary responsibility is to maintain proper operation of the building heating, ventilating, and air condition equipment in a cost effective manner and utilize energy management principles.

This position will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

* Responsible for safety, wearing the proper PPE along with the coordination of preventive and predictive maintenance on the building HVAC/R equipment. To accomplish this, the HVAC/R Tech utilizes complete and accurate equipment specs and RM control records and mechanical support as required. Perform periodic visual checks on equipment.

* Have "hands-on" knowledge for pneumatic and electronic controls calibration; testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB); building HVAC operations; and building energy management systems (as required). The HVAC/R Tech regularly utilizes these skills to troubleshoot building HVAC problems; is proactive in maintaining calibrated controllers and best possible building air balance. Request work orders for repairs as required.

* Maintains and publishes quality-related data to support (1) planning and scheduling, (2) continuous improvement initiatives, (3) use of alternative equipment, technologies and/or processes, and (4) degree of customer satisfaction with service provided.

* Experience with air / water distribution systems. More specifically worked with VAV/VEV systems, AHU's, Air Balancing, and Pumps / Strainers.

* Technician also partners with available site resources to provide a continuous building and site HVAC/R operations improvement.

* HVAC mechanic is responsible for resolving customer complaints and concerns such as hot / cold calls regarding requests. Proactively interacts with customers to determine their needs and to encourage energy conservation.

* Work with building facilities engineer in maintaining and upgrading the building facilities files, which includes drawings, cut sheets, and manuals.

* Works closely with building facilities engineer in developing building air balance information, which includes air balance reports and single line drawings. Also works with facilities engineer in updating building HVAC controls information. Is proactive in working for optimum building HVAC performance.

* Must be competent in the site use of power and hand tools used in the craft

* Inspects safety equipment. Check freeze stats and preheat at beginning of heating season. Check heat trace yearly.

* Understands and proactively maintains systems to prevent issues.

* Understands basic electrical theory, single and 3 phase and the use of Volt Ohm Meters or (VOM's)

* Observe all governmental, FMC, NEC and OSHA regulations particularly environmental roles.

* Proactive use of BAS to check for alarms, operate, monitor and troubleshoot HVAC equipment.

* Understand and follows emergency procedures.

* Basic computer skills for email, time entry and BAS

* Five (5) years Industrial / Commercial HVAC/R experience.

* Demonstrated ability to fabricate, install and repair HVAC/R systems including such things as small DX units, pneumatic controls/actuators, electronic control/actuators, VAV/VEV boxes, etc.

* Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC/R distribution systems in Chilled Water, Supply/Exhaust air, and Steam systems.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Building Automation Systems (Honeywell and Andover preferred).

* Demonstrated ability to work from prints, sketches and verbal instructions.

* Demonstrated ability to properly interpret and follow all related FMC engineering standards, and local government regulations. Demonstrated ability to quickly analyze/troubleshoot HVAC/R problems and either repair or offer alternate solutions to return equipment back on line as soon as possible.

* Delaware HVAC License OR must obtain within 1st year in position

Additional Information:

Normal working hours will be 7:00 am -- 3:30 pm. Initially the individual will be on day work to train on equipment and get familiar with the site. Shifts may be required to change at times at times to meet business needs. Must be able to respond to off - hour alarms.
