JOB SUMMARY:

 

Accountable to maintain profitable operations of all retail areas. Maintain optimal inventories while maximizing sales and minimizing expenses. To maintain the service and reputation of the Grand Canyon Squire Inn, and to act as a management representative to guests with special concerns or requests.

FUNCTIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • Manages all retail clerks in Gift Shop.
  • Creates employee work schedules to maximize coverage with minimal staffing. Maintains labor control information, to reduce overstaffing and overtime hours.
  • Organize and maintains work areas.
  • Select items for resale which are popular items for customers, set retail prices on merchandise to reflect optimum markups.
  • Maintains adequate supply of merchandise on sales floor, and orders replacement merchandise as required.
  • Communicates corporate objectives to staff; trains sales staff to hotel procedures and policies regarding Gift Shop.
  • Maintains high employee productivity and morale, while reducing departmental turnover.
  • Maintains control over inventories via regular inventory checks and verifications.
  • Help other managers and supervisors, employees and departments when assistance is needed. Continues to assist whenever and wherever required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent customer /employee relations
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Two years Supervisory/Management experience
  • Retail experience desirable

 

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

 

  • Ability to rarely climb, bend, drive, crouch, throw, kneel, or balance
  • Ability to occasionally twist, stand, or walk
  • Ability to occasionally push/pull a maximum weight of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry maximum weight of up to 50 lbs., for as far as 25ft.
  • Dexterity for fingering, handling, and wrist motion.
