Service Technician

Job Description

Candidate is responsible for organizing, supervising, and directing the work of the assigned job crew performing electrical service work. The candidate will serve as a liaison between the customer and the Service Supervisor and will be responsible for organizing and controlling the preparation and execution of electrical service work to meet company objectives of cost, quality, and equipment conservation. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and documenting the progress of the assigned electrical service work including the quality and quantity of work performed by the job crew. Lastly, the candidate is responsible for adhering to job safety standards in accordance with OSHA regulations and Corporate Safety policies and procedures.

 

What you’ll do: (Alternatives You will: / Primary Duties, Responsibilities:)

  • Plan, organize, and direct the work of job crew employees on a daily basis.
  • Discipline and counsel employees as needed, as well as motivate employees on a regular basis.
  • Maintain familiarity with plans, specifications, and job contract scope.
  • Monitor and manage tool, equipment, and material inventory of Service Vehicle.
  • Maintain the Service Vehicle in a clean and orderly manner, as we well as ensure that service and repair is performed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the work to ensure that the service request is completed in accordance with Local and National Electrical Code requirements.
  • Establish good relationships with the clients and obtain acceptance and approval of completed work.
  • Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
  • Ensure that the area where service work is performed is properly restored to normal and clean conditions when the work is complete.
  • Order materials and request manpower as needed, as well as monitor, track, and approve employee work time as necessary.
  • Participate in Emergency Service duty on a rotating basis.

 

What you’ll need to be successful: (Alternatives: You Have:, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education:)

  • A passion for learning and the drive to succeed
  • Technical understanding of electrical systems.
  • Two (2) years’ experience as a maintenance electrician under supervision and is a licensed Journeyman Electrician or other appropriate certification for the specialty (e.g., fire alarm, systems, etc.)
  • Must have sufficient knowledge to understand the estimating of time and material work.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and/or Life Safety Code (NFPA).
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and lay-out a project; includes the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must have working knowledge of construction, electrical work, and systems.
  • Must have selling abilities to act upon additional work opportunities and recommend preventative maintenance or necessary repairs to clients.
  • Must possess a current, valid Florida State driver’s license with no traffic violations on record.
  • Completion of a four (4) year electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent
