On behalf of RTI International, Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking Part-Time Field Representatives in this area to work on the Improving Family Services Study (IFSS). This longitudinal study aims to evaluate supportive housing interventions for families involved with the child welfare system who also have a history of unstable housing.  This study is in its 3rd wave of data collection.

Field representatives will be responsible for conducting computer-assisted interviews with parents and caregivers. This position is part-time, offering 20-25 hours per week between May 2018 – April 2021. We are interested in individuals who can work day, evening, and flexible weekend hours and can commit to the duration of the project. Interested candidates can expect periods of downtime over the course of project depending on case flow.

Field Representative Responsibilities

  • Conduct valid, high quality in-person interviews in compliance with all project protocols covered at training and documented in the project manual
  • Adhere to a schedule set by supervisor that ensures respondents are contacted in a timely fashion
  • Timely documentation of work, including documentation on paper, in computer, and with supervisor through email and phone communications
  • Proper handling of incentive money
  • Prompt, reliable, and accurate weekly reporting to Field Supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Must submit to and pass a Background Check
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance as required by your state
  • Must be comfortable visiting low-income neighborhoods and conducting interviews in different settings including apartments, homes, shelters, residency programs, and homeless settings
  • Must be comfortable with tracking and searching for respondents who are not located. This requires time spent in neighborhoods and places where sample members may frequent
  • Must be available for at least 20-25 hours per week to conduct interviewing and tracing during field data collection. Some months may have more cases released and need extra hours, whereas other months may have fewer cases released. The hours will fluctuate across the data collection period
  • Must be available and willing to work day, evening, and weekend hours as required
  • Must be familiar and comfortable using a laptop computer with an internal laptop mouse
  • Must have regular access to an in-home internet connection for data transmissions
  • Must be available for overnight travel either by personal automobile or air travel as required for project trainings and other activities.
  • Prompt and open communication with supervisor and project management

Preferred Experience

  • One year of experience directly or indirectly related to interviewing is preferred

Required Training
Paid in-person training will be held May 22-24, 2018 in Research Triangle Park, NC. Attendance at training is mandatory. Trainees must successfully complete training and certification to continue employment on the project.

Compensation
The pay rate for this position varies based on experience.
