About this job

This is VERY physical and fast paced work moving around a warehouse all shift. Must be able to lift packages of various size, shape & weight repetitively. Shifts are operationally based and run Tuesday - Sunday evenings/nights. Start & end times are subject to variation in the event of inclement weather or other flight delays.
Processes & distributes incoming mail following specific job instructions by performing the following duties:
  • Ensures safe and efficient unloading of air containers off tractor-trailers.
  • Pulls large air containers across ball-decking/slave-pallets to the processing area.
  • Reviews air container dispatch & routing tags for accuracy prior to scanning and processing.
  • Reports bad air container dispatch & routing tags to the supervisor.
  • Ensures all mail units within each air container are scanned under the correct parent barcode and directed to their intended sorting area.
  • Ensures that each mail unit is reviewed for proper mail type and zip code destination prior to being placed in the appropriate mail container, by verifying the routing tags on the mail properly match the mail container.
  • Ensures that all mail units are handled with care so as not to damage any parcels.
  • Communicates missent, unlabelled, & damaged/leaking mail units found to the supervisor for proper handling and distribution.
  • Ensures mail containers are properly & safely assembled for use in the sorting areas.
  • Ensures mail containers are always properly labeled for their intended mail separation.
  • Ensures mail containers leaving the sorting area are directed to their intended staging area.
  • Ensures sorting areas are stocked & replenished with empty mail containers once full containers have been removed.
  • Positions full mail containers in a neat & organized fashion in the staging areas.
  • Assists drivers in loading full mail containers from the staging areas onto tractor-trailers.
  • Ensures all mail is cleared from both the floor & the air containers at the end of the operation.
  • Picks up plastic straps and strapping material off floors to prevent possible tripping hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to work in a physical, fast-paced, deadline-based environment.
  • Ability to maintain awareness of surroundings at all times; ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with others.

    Requirements

  • Stringent Background check and drug screen required.

  • Minimum five-year US Residency required.

  • Must meet Selective Service requirements (see www.sss.gov).

  • Must be able to read, write, understand & communicate in English.

  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, & bend 100% of the time with or without accommodation.

  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs with or without accommodation.

  • Must be able to bend, reach, and lift 25+ lbs on a repetitive basis.

  • Must be dependable and have reliable transportation.

  • Must be available Tuesday through Sunday between the hours of 7:00PM and 2:00AM working shifts that can range 3-4+ hours based on volume.
