Quality Engineer
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Quality Director, participates in the operation of the quality system designed to meet all customer and third party requirements, and internal goals established by plant management. This consists of managing and establishing checkpoints in all operations of the quality system in all the departments, as well as auditing procedure and frequency to ensure conformance to established procedures. Works with Focus Factory personnel to identify trends and recommend corrective actions in areas of excessive cost due to rework and scrap.
Position Accountabilities:
1. Reviews drawings and related specifications on new programs
2. Interprets requirements to ensure shipped product meets customer requirements.
3. Investigate quality complaints from customers and establish corrective actions by working with Engineering and Production departments as required.
4. Generates and revises procedures used in laboratory and other inspection areas. Trains, evaluates, and certifies all quality personnel.
5. Provides support to engineers and quality technicians in interpreting requirements, documents and procedures.
6. Drive adherence to Quality Management System through communication, training and leading quality projects/initiatives.
7. Assists Quality Director in customer audits as required by customers. Assist at meetings in determining quality solutions and corrective actions as may be required on jobs with excessive rework and scrap rates.
8. Participates in AS9100 Quality Management System Audits
9. Performs internal audits of product and quality system.
10. Participates in NADCAP special process accreditation audits for Cherry’s internal special processes in Chemical Processing and Heat Treating.
11. Establishes and performs special process documentation and internal audits for Cherry’s special processes.
12. Generates and controls department instructions, internal and supplier corrective actions.
13. Documents through the MRB process unacceptable or nonconforming materials and take corrective action as required.
14. Complies with all environmental safe practices and regulations. Reads all MSDS’ and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

MINIMUM EDUCATION
* Bachelor’s Degree
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
* 2-3 years

* Experience in ISO9000/AS9100 Quality Management System environment
* Experience with NADCAP audit and accreditation requirements (Chemical Processing and Heat Treating)
* Knowledge of SPC
