The Residence Inn Norfolk Downtown is accepting applications in person at our front desk.  The hotel is located at 227 W. Brambleton ave, in Downtown Norfolk.  The positions needed are Breakfast attendant and RI Mix Host.

Early mornings are required as this shift begins at 5:30 AM. Duties include cooking, cleaning and prepping hot and cold food items.

The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Breakfast Buffet/RI MIX Evening Reception Attendant to join our team at our Residence Inn property in Downtown Norfolk, VA.

As Breakfast/Evening Reception Attendant, you’ll be responsible for monitoring the food and beverage products during breakfast and/or our afternoon reception. Must be available for all days shifts including nights/weekends and Mon-Weds evenings from 5pm for RI Mix.

Job Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of a Breakfast/Reception Attendant include:

  • Setting up the buffet line before guests arrive for breakfast and/or the evening reception
  • Displaying food and beverages in an organized and attractive manner
  • Cleaning the area around the buffet by wiping, sweeping, and/or mopping
  • Frequently checking the buffet line to ensure that there is an appropriate amount of food available
  • Replenishing the buffet with food, beverages and/or supplies as needed
  • Maintaining cleanliness of buffet area
  • Disposing of used plates, utensils, napkins and/or cups as necessary
  • Removing and disposing of leftover food at the end of breakfast and/or evening reception
  • Cleaning buffet area according to established standards
  • Ensuring inventory is stocked and properly stored for next shift


Job Requirements
The ideal Breakfast/Reception Attendant candidate will have experience in the food and/or hospitality industry. The minimum qualifications for this position are:
 

  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
  • Possess a basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Must be willing and have the ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around during entire shift
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with team members and guests using a positive, clear speaking voice
  • Must have the ability to work with guests and respond immediately and accurately to their needs and requirements

We are looking for service-oriented, self-motivated individuals with flexible schedules to be part of our breakfast team:

1. Provides prompt, courteous, and friendly guest service.

2. Prepares breakfast according to operational policies and hotel and brand standards.

3. Understands and applies all hotel and brand safety and security procedures and local, county and/or city health department standards.

4. Attends to guests needs to ensure food and beverages are continually replenished and presented in an appealing manner.

5. Maintains clean, sanitary, and well-organized dining and working area with minimum disruption to guests.

6. Maintains all food and beverage dispensing machines, operating equipment, and serving utensils in a neat and clean manner.

7. Organizes storage areas to ensure the quality of the food, implementing "first in first out" method of food rotation.

8. Observes and communicates to guests' reactions and comments to ensure 100% satisfaction.
