Engineering Technician - Full-time / Part-time

Job Description:

During the warm months, candidates are traveling to job sites 80% of the time with Forensic Engineer and unique equipment to survey and investigate job site for the evaluation of the building inefficiency so they can create repair drawings. 20% of the time is in office drafting architectural/engineering plans for the repair as well as maintaining the equipment room.

During the cold months, they will be doing more AutoCAD drawing for the repairs/construction to be done by the general contractor in the warm months.

• Travel to local job sites to assist Engineering Principals in field investigations of building envelop deficiencies. Visits to the field can be anywhere from 8-10 hours.
  
  
• Organize and maintain testing equipment for Engineer to use during forensic engineering.
  
  
• Assist Project Managers coordinating technical and administrative activities of each project.
  
  
• Write field reports reviewing the information obtained in the field from the site. Reports take anywhere from 1-3 hours.
  
  
• When done investigating, create AutoCAD drawings of the building for the architect and engineer to design construction documents for repair/construction.

Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in Computer Drafting and Design or Architectural Studies or relevant degree
  
  
• Strong mechanical aptitude and learns quickly
  
  
• Strong written and oral communication skills
  
  
• Proficient in AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT
  
  
• Familiarity with construction documents and building envelope systems
  
  
• Must be okay doing some tests on a scaffold
  
  
• Must be okay being in the field and traveling via car locally majority of the work hours in a given week. Rarely will need to fly but must be okay flying
