As a Direct Market Sales Manager you will be responsible for leading the sales team to exceed your Market’s annual sales budget in both horizontal and vertical sales throughout the Installer Channel. You will be ultimately accountable for the team’s safety performance, customer relationship management, and market P&L reporting into the Regional Sales Director.  You will establish growth strategies that support long-term, sustainable sales and profit growth within the competitive landscape of the Direct Market Installer Channel.  In addition, you will have the ability to analyze our key performance indicators and implement plans that can be utilized to foster growth against key sales metrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly analyze and report market results to the Regional Sales Director while ensuring proper communication of support needs and analyzing financial categories versus plan in order to take action quickly and resolve deficiencies.
  • Plan and implement business growth strategies by channel with your team using salesforce.com and company planning tools.
  • Develop and execute plans to attain growth targets leveraging the Valvoline selling tools and platforms available to ensure significant differentiation of our programs from others.
  • Lead by example and coach others on the effective execution of the marketing programs.  Demonstrate and reinforce the use of programs and tools that deliver value to the Installer while maximizing profitable outcomes for Valvoline.
  • Motivate and coach a team of Territory Business Managers and Chemical Specialist to ensure a strong team environment is established to drive results. 
  • Grow the market customer base with significant focus on new customer acquisition.
  • Teach and Develop your direct reports through various coaching and mentoring activities.  Ensure their success and readiness to take on future, more broad assignments.
  • Help maintain current, and help develop new relationships with key accounts to allow for efficient communications and information flow between our organizations to strengthen our partnership and provide for additional growth.
  • Support cross-functional sales, marketing, supply-chain, and business teams to ensure price, promotion and, delivery of product is managed properly.
  • Work independently as needed, act with a sense of urgency, be a self-starter and, solve problems for the field team.
  • Entertain existing and prospective customers at various company sponsored events during the week and on occasional weekends.
  • Overnight travel up to 25%

 Qualifications: 

  • Minimum Qualifications:Sales management/large account management experience, marketing, financial or related business management experience preferred.
  • Prior experience at leading teams successfully in a fast paced and challenging sales environment.
  • Prior management experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, MS Office, SalesForce.com beneficial.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred.
