Paralegal/Subpoena Clerk

We seek a Subpoena Specialist for our busy workers’ compensation and general liability practice areas. The Subpoena Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day preparation and issuance of subpoenas for the firm. This includes issuing medical records requests, printing and saving records received and following up on outstanding records. Our Subpoena Specialist is required to have exceptional knowledge of HIPAA to ensure patient privacy, be diligent about confidentiality, and have exceptional organizational and computer skills.

• Typing with Speed and Accuracy
• Detail-oriented and outstanding organizational skills
• Strong communication skills – written and verbal
• Ability to prioritize time-sensitive requests
• Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe or Nuance
• Time management skills and ability to multitask between projects
• WorldDox, Tabs3 is a plus

The following are some of the duties which may be required of you as a Subpoena Clerk:

• Help monitor to ensure records are being received;
• Update subpoena logs;
• Knowledge & Understanding of HIPAA;
• Knowledge & Understanding of Medical Records Rights to Access Policy
• General knowledge of processing medical records requests;
• Knowledge of processing subpoenas;
• Accurate copying and provision of medical records;
• Demonstrates organizational skills;
• Knowledge of how to obtain medical records;
• Understands and invoices for medical records appropriately;
• Ability to be proactive in retrieving records, including consistent follow-ups;
• Attend IWCC status call;
• Other duties as assigned.
