Deli Department Associate

Peck's Markets is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Deli Department Associates with Supermarket experience to help us run the best supermarket in our 4 locations in the Sullivan County area.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Deli Associates are responsible for providing our customers with the highest quality product. You are required to oblige with all safety and sanitation regulations as per PSK Supermarkets policies. In addition, you are responsible for processing/packaging/stocking a full line of products according to PSK Standards.

• Possesses extensive knowledge of all products you are selling to the consumer
• Able to write department schedule within budgeted hours
• Properly stock and maintain all products
• Must ensure that all products are being priced accurately
• Use all equipment properly as per PSK safety policies and procedures
• Responsible for training and development of new and existing employees in all aspects of the job, such as stocking and merchandising, sales and service, record-keeping and department-specific tasks
• Practice safe food handling procedures
• Receiving, storing, rotating and stocking all merchandise
• Receive supplies, organize and maintain inventory
• Dress and groom according to PSK Supermarkets policy including uniform, name badge and hat or hair restraint requirements
• Perform duties in accordance with PSK Supermarkets policies and standards
• Complete all applicable department training programs
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Follow approved procedures for receiving, code-dating, preparing, storing, price-marking, scaling, and restocking products to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation
• Be knowledgeable in and able to differentiate between all various types and varieties of products in all departments, and related merchandise including preparation for sale to costumer
• Contribute to controlling freshness and quality control of the product
• Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods
• Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; report any failures immediately
• Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations where needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency degree
• Must be 18 and over.
• SUPERMARKET EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED!
• Ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems
• Able to work well with others as a team member
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• A passion for serving people
• Attention to detail and organization

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17-$20 an hour and up depending on experience

Physical setting: Grocery store

Schedule: Day shift / Weekends a must
