An exempt position, responsible for providing direct medical care to patients within the scope of licensing, training and credentialing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.   • Provides direct patient care as outlined in TVH employment agreement including diagnoses, treatment and/or proper referral while maintaining expected medical standards.
  • Assesses health status of patients through health history, physical examination and diagnostic tests.
  • Provides patient centered care including: tracking, patient follow-up, education, counseling and in-patient care (for those physicians with both ambulatory and hospital contracts).
  • Evaluates patients in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Appropriately and timely recording of medical records.
  • Attends regular provider meetings, to be defined.
  • Participates or provides in-service training to the provider and clinical staff.
  • Develops and implements plans for providing treatment of illness and preventive services.
  • Provides consultation and leadership for mid-level providers and other clinicians.
  • May serve as preceptor to residents and students.
  • Assists CMO and Lead Physician in the development and updating of policies, guidelines, and medical orders used in the delivery of health care to patients.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient care and organizational operations at all times.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Must be licensed physician (MD or DO) in the State of Florida and be either board certified or board eligible (if board eligible, must be board certified within 2 years of employment).

Must possess a current CPR/BLS or ACLS certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations or proof of immunity to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).

KNOWLEDGE

Must have attended accredited medical school and residency program.

SKILLS

Skill in applying and modifying, as appropriate, the principles, methods and techniques of medicine; skill in identifying problems, researching and recommending solutions; skill in developing and maintaining high levels of quality care and quality assurance; skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making.

ABILITIES

Ability to manage the overall provision of clinical services; ability to work effectively with diverse individuals at all levels; ability to handle many tasks simultaneously and deal effectively with changing priorities; ability to demonstrate full range of motion including finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Ability to work with computers and software programs.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Medical exam and treatment rooms and medical offices. Environment setting (lighting, temperature, air quality, acoustics) controlled.
