Job Overview:We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Furniture and Art Sales Associate with a strong background in interior design and decorating. The ideal candidate will have expertise in furnishings, art pieces, and antiques, as well as an eye for aesthetics and spatial planning. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work within budgets, and problem-solving abilities to help clients achieve their vision. Strong sales and relationship-building skills are also essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist customers in selecting furniture, artwork, and decorative pieces that align with their style, needs, and budget.
- Provide expert guidance on interior design concepts, including space planning, color coordination, and material selection.
- Educate clients on the history, craftsmanship, and value of furnishings, art, and antiques.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their preferences and design aspirations.
- Identify and reach potential clients through effective lead generation strategies.
- Work within budget constraints to offer creative and cost-effective solutions.
- Collaborate with contractors, designers, and delivery teams to ensure seamless execution of design plans.
- Keep up to date with current design trends, antique valuations, and market demand.
- Maintain the showroom's visual appeal by staging furniture and art pieces effectively.
- Confidently guide customers through the decision-making process, addressing concerns and closing sales.
- Handle transactions, invoicing, and record-keeping related to sales.
- Knowledge of furnishings, art pieces, and antiques – Ability to assess quality, craftsmanship, and value.
- Budgeting – Understanding cost estimation for design elements.
- Communication – Ability to interpret clients' wishes and provide clear instructions to contractors.
- Problem-solving – Finding creative solutions within space and budget constraints.
- Space planning – Optimizing the functionality and aesthetics of a space.
- Prospecting – Identifying and reaching potential clients through effective lead generation strategies.
- Relationship building – Establishing trust and rapport with customers to foster long-term business connections.
- Closing skills – The ability to confidently guide a customer toward making a purchase decision.
- Emotional intelligence – Recognizing and managing one's own emotions while understanding and responding to the emotions of others.
- Previous sales experience in furniture, art, antiques, or interior design is a plus.
- Base rate starting at $16/hour plus commission. Based on past performance, an adequate Sales Associate would be projected to make about $60,000 annually. A skilled sales candidate should be able to easily earn well above this amount.
