UofL Health and the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY, are recruiting an academic Anesthesiologist with a subspecialty certification in critical care to join its Cardiovascular Critical Care division.

The intensivists lead the multidisciplinary Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) team at UofL Health - Heart Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. This 17-bed unit cares for critically ill cardiac surgical patients, patients requiring mechanical circulatory support, heart and lung transplant recipients, and those with unstable ascending aortic disease.

The CVICU team comprises physicians, non-physician providers, and dedicated nurses, pharmacists, and therapists. In addition, the CVICU regularly hosts medical students and post-graduate trainees from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, including Critical Care Anesthesiology fellows. Opportunities exist for teaching, research, and scholarly effort as well as clinical time in Anesthesiology. The academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, experience, and interests.

The Division of Cardiovascular Critical Care is housed in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. The multidisciplinary design of the Department engenders a collaborative relationship between its critical care and surgical members.

The successful candidate is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology, has completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in critical care, and is board-certified or board-eligible in Critical Care. Active medical licensure in the state of Kentucky, as well as active BLS and ACLS certifications, and possession of an unrestricted DEA number, will be required.
