We are searching for a new Assistant Director for the Undergraduate Research Center - Sciences at UCLA. This Assistant Director works closely with a team of faculty, academic administrators, and staff to run five research programs that support our diverse student body. These programs include academic year undergraduate research programs, summer research programs and the UC-wide California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP) program. The Assistant Director teaches courses that prepare students for success in research and serves as the faculty mentor and course instructor for the UCLA Undergraduate Science Journal. The Assistant Director also manages outreach for the Center by managing UCLA's Undergraduate Research Portal, which connects students to mentors. In sum, this position supports the research experiences for undergraduates, including outreach, counseling and management of introductory and advanced research opportunities. Some grant writing and program assessment is expected. A doctoral degree in the sciences is required and post-doctoral research experience and/or past experience with undergraduate mentoring are essential.
