About this job
We are seeking a Research Assistant who will provide technical and administrative support to research, monitoring and evaluation activities for domestic and international programs implemented by CCP, with direction from Breakthrough ACTION staff. The Research Assistant will also support program teams with the interpretation, reporting, and dissemination of the data collected. They also support locally led research activities and Breakthrough ACTION staff in CCP country offices in addition to knowledge management. Individuals in the Research Assistant position have education and/or training, and knowledge and experience in quantitative and qualitative methods in addition to data analysis and visualization, and documentation.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Theory, Frameworks & Models
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of SBC communication theory and models and be able to collaborate with other team members to implement project activities.
Research & Evaluation
Research Design
- Conducts literature reviews to support Breakthrough ACTION project activities.
Tools Development
- Assists with development of Breakthrough ACTION creative briefs and other various stakeholder documents.
Dissemination
- Assists with the development of research reports and manuscripts (includes scientific writing), presentations, posters, blogs, and other products, with writing that is accurate and clear with logical flow.
- Contributes data visualization resources for reports and other products, when needed.
Knowledge Management
- Supports the development of knowledge management/learning products. This includes,

- Participates in internal CCP, R&E and MEL learning activities (includes staff meetings, CoP, Strat Comm, others).
Program Management (Collaboration and Communication)
- Maintain frequent, open, ongoing communication with program team.
- Continuously inform team members and supervisors of project progress.
- Provides support for Breakthrough ACTION staff, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Skills in graphic design, documentation, strong writing skills.
- Special knowledge, skills, and abilities: copyediting, research methods, and health communication skills.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
