TRAVEL RN - MED-SURG | Weirton, WV
\nWVU Weirton Medical Center 6/30/26 - 9/29/26 (91 days/13 weeks) Nights: 7p-7a | 12hr shifts | 36hrs/wk guaranteed Weekends as scheduled 1 POSITION AVAILABLE
\nUNIT: MedSurg - Level 8

- 48 beds | Epic charting | Acute care setting \n
RATIOS:
\n- \n
- Days: 1:5-7 \n
- Nights: 1:6-8 \n
REQUIREMENTS:
\n- \n
- WV RN License (must submit license to apply) \n
- BLS Certification required \n
- 1+ year Med-Surg experience required \n
- First-time travelers accepted \n
- 50-mile radius rule applies \n
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
\n- \n
- Copy of unexpired driver's license MANDATORY \n
- Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission \n
PATIENT POPULATION: Common diagnoses: Pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, falls/weakness
\n\n
DRIP EXPERIENCE:
\n- \n
- Required to titrate drips (with exceptions) \n
- NO cardiac drip titration \n
- Common drips: Heparin, Bumex, Lasix \n
STAFFING:
\n- \n
- Charge Nurse: 2 on days (take assignment), 1-2 on nights (no assignment if only 1) \n
- PCTs: Ratio 1:10-12+ (vitals, BGMs, EKGs, apply heart monitors, bathing, feeding, toileting, turning/positioning) \n
- Monitor tech on Level 5 reads all tele strips - RNs not expected to interpret \n
RESPIRATORY:
\n- \n
- RT manages vents, BiPap, CPAP, high flow O2, breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs \n
- RNs monitor only, troubleshoot as needed \n
SCHEDULING:
\n- \n
- Every other weekend required \n
- No self-scheduling or block scheduling \n
- Manager creates schedule with RTO consideration \n
- Rotating shifts: 2 weeks days/2 weeks nights (not same week) \n
- May be asked to work holiday rotation \n
- Travelers expected to be flexible and fill schedule gaps \n
FLOAT/PULL REQUIREMENTS:

- Float rotation to any MS, MS-Tele, or IMC for lower acuity patients \n
ORIENTATION:
\n- \n
- Day 1: Educator/computer system \n
- Day 2: Preceptor shadow \n
CANCELLATION POLICY:
\n- \n
- Client may cancel 2 shifts per 13-week assignment \n
- 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks \n
DRESS CODE:

- RN: Navy blue scrubs \n
