Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown Unit
\nPosition Summary
\nThe Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized treatment. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN assesses patient conditions, develops and implements individualized care plans, administers treatments and medications, and evaluates patient outcomes. The RN collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to ensure safe, high-quality care in a fast-paced acute care environment.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care. \n
- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions, including multi-system organ failure, trauma, and cardiac or respiratory complications. \n
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policies. \n
- Coordinate patient care across multiple disciplines and hospital departments. \n
- Monitor hemodynamic status and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition. \n
- Manage patients requiring advanced respiratory support, chest tubes, temporary pacing, and conscious sedation. \n
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions. \n
- Advocate for patients and families while promoting patient safety and quality outcomes. \n
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care. \n
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. \n
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record. \n
Qualifications
\nRequired:
\n- \n
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state or compact state. \n
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience. \n
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. \n
Preferred:
\n- \n
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). \n
- Minimum of 6 months of acute care hospital experience. \n
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within 6 months of hire). \n
- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification. \n
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification. \n
- NIH Stroke Certification. \n
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR). \n
- Completion of a Critical Care training course. \n

- May be exposed to high noise levels, emergency situations, and frequent interruptions. \n
