Department: CT7A – Critical Care Unit (CCU)
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based clinical practices.
- Perform complete patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement, monitor, and continuously evaluate patient care plans and modify interventions as patient conditions change.
- Deliver high-quality critical care nursing while maintaining patient safety and clinical excellence.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough nursing documentation to support continuity of care.
- Monitor patient status and respond appropriately to emergency and life-saving situations following established nursing protocols.
- Operate and monitor specialized critical care equipment and interpret clinical data effectively.
- Interpret and document cardiac rhythms, intracranial pressure (ICP), central venous pressure (CVP), ventilator settings, and other hemodynamic monitoring data.
- Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and treatment interventions.
- Care for ventilated patients and support early mobility initiatives when clinically appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Promote effective patient and family communication through bedside reporting, hourly rounding, and patient education.
- Ensure compliance with departmental standards, nursing competencies, and hospital policies.
- Identify and report patient safety concerns, hazards, and incidents promptly.
- Support teamwork by providing constructive feedback and contributing to peer development.
- Demonstrate accountability for ongoing professional growth and continuous learning.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required (BSN preferred)
- Active Illinois RN License in good standing
- Current BLS Certification (AHA)
- Current ACLS Certification (AHA)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant RN experience
