Unit Information
- 25 beds (anticipated decrease to 16 following room renovations)
- Minimum experience: 2 years
- First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of inpatient/trauma hospital experience
Patient Population
- General Medicine and Cardiology
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios
- 1:4–6
Required Licensure and Certifications
- BLS
- NIHSS
Required Skills
- Tracheostomy care
- Chest tube management
- Peripheral IV insertion
- Blood product administration
- Nasogastric tube insertion and feeding
- PEG tube care and feeding
- Management of drips including heparin and insulin
Unit Support
- LPNs are utilized on the unit
- LPNs are paired with an RN each shift for support with assessments, admissions, and patient care responsibilities
