Now Hiring: Home Health Aides (HHAs) – Where The Heart Is Home Care
Location Area: Union County Plainfield, Westfield, Roselle, Linden
Setting: Client's Home
Hours: Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem (Flexible Hours Based on Client's Schedule)
At Where The Heart Is Home Care, we provide compassionate, non-medical care to our clients, helping them live safely and comfortably in their homes. We are currently looking for dedicated Home Health Aides (HHAs) to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we care for.
Job Summary:
As a Homemaker-Home Health Aide, you will provide non-medical assistance to clients in their homes, ensuring their daily needs are met with the highest level of care. Your responsibilities will include personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and providing companionship. You will work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON) to ensure that each client receives individualized care and attention.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Personal Care Assistance:
Assist clients with daily personal care activities, such as:
Bathing, grooming, and dressing
Toileting and incontinence care
Transferring and ambulation assistance
Medication reminders
Assistance with mobility and exercise
Other aspects of personal hygiene and daily living tasks
Household Assistance:
Perform light housekeeping duties, including:
Laundry (washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothes)
Light cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and wiping down surfaces)
Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and kitchens
Changing bed linens and making beds
Washing dishes and assisting with kitchen duties (including using a dishwasher)
Taking out the trash
Watering houseplants
Meal Preparation:
Prepare nutritious meals based on client preferences and dietary restrictions
Assist with meal planning, cooking, and cleaning up after meals
Companionship Services:
Provide socialization and emotional support, offering companionship to the client
Engage in non-medical supervision to ensure client safety
Participate in light activities like reading, playing games, or accompanying clients on outings (if applicable)
General Support:
Assist clients with organizing and decluttering their living spaces
Provide pet care assistance if needed, such as feeding, walking, or cleaning up after pets
Help with errands or transportation to appointments as needed (if applicable)
Special Skills and Certifications Required:
Must be licensed or certified by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs as a Home Health Aide (HHA)
CPR Certified
Additional Requirements:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work independently and in collaboration with the care team
Compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor
Professional appearance and behavior
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Ability to lift and maneuver assistive equipment (e.g., Hoyer lifts, wheelchairs)
Physical Demands:
Vision & Hearing: Sufficient clarity of vision and hearing for communication and reading documentation
Manual Dexterity & Reflexes: Ability to handle equipment and perform caregiving tasks
Mobility & Endurance: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, and assist with client transfers and lifting
Lifting & Transferring: Ability to lift and maneuver assistive equipment
