The Cashier is the Great Lakes Ace (GLA) team member who often has the most customer contact; in this role you arebr /accountable for maintaining a good company image and promoting GLA#39;s goodwill through your attitude, appearance and a concern for the profitability of the entire store./pp/ppBe steadfast in Great Lakes Ace Hardware’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values working to live the core values every day./pp/ppbESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/b include the following. Other duties may be assigned./pp/ppubREGISTER OPERATIONS/b/u (typically 70% or more of role)br /Operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, engaging the customer through suggestive selling, proper tendering of each transaction, and thanking the customer for shopping at GLA./pp/ppProcesses refunds and/or issues in store merchandise credit to customers for returned merchandise./pp/ppUses loss prevention techniques to reduce shortages and prevent shoplifting./pp/ppFollows GLA policies and procedures for all transactions. Engages the customer to ensure they are receiving all the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seeking participation from them./pp/ppMaintains familiarity with all ads, rebates and special pricing; reports pricing errors to management./pp/ppAnswers telephones and refers all calls to proper department through the use of the paging system and two way radios./pp/ppbuSALES FLOOR/u/b (typically 30% or less of role)br /Greets all customers and assists in answering questions about merchandise; uses The S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their lists./pp/ppAid customers in locating merchandising in store, on acehardware.com, as well as, processing special orders./pp/ppDisplays, stocks and maintains merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters or tables following company plan‐o‐gram, building displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified guidelines by your management team./pp/ppAssists with color matching and mixing paint./pp/ppCollect carts; carry merchandise out to customer cars if needed./ppbr /ubADDITIONAL DUTIES/b/ubr /Assists and/or makes recommendations to customers in the service areas within the store including, but not limited to; chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening./pp/ppFollows the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness of assigned work areas./pp/ppRefers customer complaints to proper person for resolution./pp/ppA continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends./pp/ppbRELATIONSHIPS/bbr /Professionally communicates with customers, all members of store management, store associates, and the Support Center associates as necessary./pp/ppbTECHNOLOGY/bbr /Use of computer keyboard, mouse, and Epicor system./pp/ppbQUALIFICATIONS/bbr /To perform this job successfully, an individual must be at least 16 years of age and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
