The duties of the Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technician shall include, but are not limited to the following requirements:nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/p ol lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitoring of patients/youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administering medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, taking and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Work with other disciplines as part of the Treatment Team in the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessments in providing an overall treatment program for patient/youth.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Assist in the development of group and individual therapy regimens. Act as a provider of group therapy to patients/youth.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in the management of mental ornbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"developmentally disabled patient/youth.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Observe patients#39;/youths#39; physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patients/youth present at their clinical appointments.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Assist in first responder duties, such as giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Follow completely and accurately all documentation procedures as required by Department of Corrections /span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Help to create a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patient/youth.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li /ol pnbsp;/p h4Qualifications/h4brpspan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"stronguQualification Requirements:/unbsp;/strong/span/span/p pspan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"All Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians assigned to Department of Corrections must have the minimum experience outlined below:nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/p ol lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein in a public or private institution. An internship does not count towards the required experience.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Possess and maintain while providing services to the Department of Corrections; a current and valid license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician to perform services in the State of California.nbsp;nbsp;/span/span/li lispan style="font-size:12pt"span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"Any Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians providing services through this Agreement must be proficient in the English language and be able to communicate effectively with the Department of Corrections. All Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians must be able to speak, understand oral and written communication and write effectively in the English language.
