Receiving also offers the state’s leading 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, Metro Detroit’s first certified primary stroke center, and the nationally recognized and accredited DMC Rosa Parks Geriatric Center of Excellence./span/p pspanstrongSummary Description/strong/span/p pspanThe Nurse Extern I (NE I) is a member of the patient care services team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities./span/p pspanThe NE I is assigned to work under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and NE I skills and abilities./spanbrspanThe NE I will report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse./spanbrspanIt is recognized that specific patient care tasks may vary widely in type and frequency from unit to unit or across service lines, based on the nature of the patient population being served./spanbrspanStudents hired as Nurse Extern I have the job duties of a patient care tech or equivalent role./span/pbr pspanstrongMinimum Qualifications/strong/span/p pspanCompletion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course through an accredited school of nursing./spanbrspanStudents must successfully pass all courses to remain in the program./span/p
