pspanThe mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department./span/p divspanemJOB SUMMARY/em:/span/div div/div divspanPerforms technical duties in the field of patient care and participates in the general health care of patients by providing assistance with cleanliness, grooming, rest, activity, nourishment, and distribution of medications. Assists the professional staff in maintaining a safe therapeutic environment./span/div div/div divspanstrongemESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/em:/strong/span/div ul lispanCollects, reports and documents data: vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collect specimens./span/li lispanAssists with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee as indicated by the patient's plan of care./span/li lispanProvides for patient's personal hygiene; assists with chronic wound care; assists with feeding; and ambulates, positions, and turns patients with altered mobility./span/li lispanAssists in the maintenance of a safe, comfortable environment; obtains, stores and maintains pharmacy and nursing medications and supplies./span/li lispanDistributes and documents patient's medications, both in general population and administrative segregation, from filled prescriptions, abiding by Title 40, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 95, "Licensing Standards for Medical Aides Handbook"./span/li lispanEnsures drug room security, replaced facility working drug stocks, and maintains the upkeep of facility drug room and pharmaceutical equipment./span/li lispanEnters medication compliance into the pharmacy computer system./span/li lispanParticipates in in-service orientation and continuing education classes. Obtains 40 hours of continuing education/in-service hours on an annual basis to meet ACA standards./span/li lispanAdheres to internal controls and reporting structures established for department./span/li lispanPerforms related duties as required./span/li /ul divspanstrongemEQUIPMENT/em:/strong/span/div div/div divspanStandard patient care supplies, equipment and mechanical devices./span/div div/div divspanstrongemWORK ENVIRONMENT/em:/strong/span/div div/div divspanWork environment is located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center.
