DELI/STORE CHEF - Part-time

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Assist in directing, supporting and supervising all functions, duties and activities for the department. Responsible for assisting with the execution of best practices, goals and standards established for the department. Role model and demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety./ph3Responsibilities/h3divul liPromote trust and respect among associates/li liCreate an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store/li liGain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products/li liCommunicate verbally with customers and store personnel/li liClean and maintain sanitation to company standards and health department regulations/li liPrepare all food products to established standards and recipes/li liPrepare signs and price product in cases/li liDetermine needs and prepare daily shopping list/li liShop for products and ring through check stand/li liWash dishes, clean and maintain sanitation in work area/li liSet up and maintain stock conditions and appearances in cases/li liPrepare, place, and maintain garnishes in cases/li liCode date products properly, monitor and remove out of date products/li liLoad and transport product to proper locations for stocking/li liAssist customers on the Deli counter/li liImplement price changes and monitor integrity/li liReset cases as necessary/li liSharen knives properly/li liStock supplies and ingredients to proper locations/li liAnalyze cost for new recipes to determine profitability/li liCompute weekly purchases and communicate to Deli manager/li liDirect Deli personnel in Chef duties/li liReinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management/li liPractice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair/li liNotify management of customer or employee accidents/li liReport all safety risk, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud/li liAbility to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment./li liAbility to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner./li liAbility to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information./li liAbility to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues./li liProvide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults./li liMust be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation/li /ul/divh3Qualifications/h3divpstrongMinimum/strong/p ul liAbility to handle stressful situations/li liEffective communication skills/li liKnowledge of basic math/li liCurrent food handlers permit once employed/li /ul pstrongDesired/strong/p ul liChef skills/li liRetail experience/li liSecond language: speaking, reading and/or writing/li /ul/divh2Company/h2divdiv Based in California, Ralph’s merged with The Kroger Company in 1998.
