They are expected to utilize complex problem solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems. They are to ensure the provision of high quality /spanspanlaboratory/diagnostic/spanspan services to patients and physicians and full compliance with all regulatory standards. May provide weekend/holiday supervisory coverage as needed. /spanbr /br /bRESPONSIBILITIES:/b/pullipspanCorrectly performs testing in an accurate and timely manner./span/p/lilipspanInterprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so that appropriate action can be taken./span/p/lilipspanCommunicates stat and critical lab results and prolonged instrument malfunctions causing delays in test results to physicians, nursing units and other appropriate medical personnel./span/p/lilipspanPerformance of QC, routine and advanced maintenance and analyte/instrument troubleshooting activities./span/p/lilipspanAccurately prepares reagents and maintains proper inventory of laboratory section supplies with appropriate cost containment in mind./span/p/lilipspanMay provide weekend/holiday supervisory oversite as needed./span/p/lilipspanMaintains knowledge of required computer functions associated with ordering testing, performing testing, resulting testing and calling up various reports to assist in completing testing and the management of workflow./span/p/lilipspanCoordinates and assists in the training of new and existing employees on new procedures and instrumentation and acts as a technical consultant to technologists, technicians, and/or students rotating through their area./span/p/lilipspanTeaches in the School of Medical Technology and Lab rotations as called upon to do so. Assists in the performance of specialized and complex diagnostic procedures./span/p/lilipspanMay conduct research and development of new or updated technologies and provides written evaluation to supervisor./span/p/lilipspanAdditional Duties and Responsibilities as requested by Manager./span/p/li/ulpbr /bREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:/b/pullipspanBS in Medical Technology or BS in a related Science (Biology, Chemistry, or The Physical Sciences) and/or equivalent relevant experience as recognized by New York State Department of Education for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
