Positions located at the Fillmore Head Start Center in Lompoc./ppTeachers work in partnership with the team teacher to develop weekly lesson plans for preschool children, develops and maintains a safe and positive classroom climate, and an intentional learning environment; screens and assesses each child using appropriate screening/assessment tools; individualizes the educational plans for each child based on ongoing developmental assessments. Engages parents of various cultural backgrounds in their Childs education. Acts as the ldquo;second in commandrdquo; of site operations when Site Supervisor is off site, as assigned./ppstrongEssential Duties and Responsibilities/strong: nbsp;emOther duties may be assigned/em./pulliWhen in the teacher/child ratio, maintains 100% supervision of all children, by sight and sound at all times./liliPlans high quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences with the team teacher. nbsp;/liliCarries out a bilingual, multicultural, anti-bias curriculum designed to meet childrenrsquo;s developmental needs within program guidelines./liliDevelops positive relationships with each child and parent./liliMaintains an indoor and outdoor classroom environment consistent with Head Start/Child Development, Licensing and Agency standards./liliMaintains the confidentiality of records and information of enrolled families./liliAssists children with self-care needs such as tooth brushing, diapering, toileting, hand washing and wiping noses./liliMaintains a physically safe environment and clean well-organized equipment and learning materials indoors and out./liliAttends and contributes to regular staff meetings and curriculum planning meetings./liliPlans monthly/weekly curriculum with team teacher that scaffolds childrenrsquo;s development./liliWorks on a regular basis with the team teacher to plan and evaluate individualization of the curriculum and behavior plans if applicable./liliIs responsible for large group three times a week and a small group (primary language) daily./liliPlans and carries out transition activities for children who are entering or leaving the class/center./liliMaintains narrative records on each child related to their development./liliCompletes required paper and electronic records in a timely manner./liliAssumes responsibility for maintenance of required assessments and screenings./liliAttends IEP (Individual Education Plan) meetings for special needs children with consultants, school district personnel and parents as required./liliAttends parent meetings upon request./liliProvides daily on-going communication with parents regarding childrenrsquo;s activities, development, and special needs./liliMakes at least 2 home visits, and two parent conferences with each assigned child#39;s family annually. nbsp;Makes special efforts to include fathers./liliParticipates with supervisors and managers in the evaluation and ongoing improvement of the programrsquo;s effectiveness./liliCarry out responsibilities of staff supervision, licensing requirements and overall center operations when the Site Supervisor is away from the center./liliConsistently uses positive child guidance methods./liliMust be available for pre-arranged evening or weekend home visits, meetings, or special events to meet the needs of working families./liliIs aware of all centerrsquo;s children with food allergies, and ensures they receive the doctor recommended substitutions./liliIs sensitive to children with special needs./liliFunctions as a positive team member. nbsp;Communicates effectively with families and co-workers./liliPerforms other comparable related duties as required./li/ulpstrongKnowledge, Skill amp; Ability Required:/strong/ppTeacher II: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or a related field and eligible for a Child Development Teacher permit or higher from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing with three semester units in supervised field experience. nbsp;/ppTeacher III: Bachelorrsquo;s Degree or higher with 12 units of Early Childhood Education/Child Development and eligible for a Child Development Master Teacher permit or higher from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing with three semester units in supervised field experience and one year or experience as an Early Childhood Teacher./ppstrongComputer Skills:nbsp;/strongTo perform this position successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; and Word Processing software./ppstrongCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:/strong Obtain and maintain a current Child Development Permit for position held. Must obtain and maintain a Pediatric First Aid and CPR card. nbsp;/ppstrongOther Skills and Abilities:nbsp;/strongExperience working with children with disabilities desirable; Bilingual preferred./ppstrongOther Qualifications:nbsp;/strongSuccessfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. Obtain a tuberculosis clearance and clear Community Care Licensing fingerprint process.
