Per Diem - Genetic Counselor

pThe Oncology Clinical Genetics Nurse Navigator (NN)/Genetic Counselor (GC) functions to provide access to quality care for patients and families at risk for cancer. nbsp;In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, this provider assists patients along the continuum of care from exploration of familial risk, diagnosis of genetic risk, high-risk physical findings, prevention strategies, diagnosis and through treatment and survivorship. nbsp;The NN/GC meets with patients and family members for individual cancer risk assessment sessions; including detailed discussion of basic genetics, risk for cancer development based on family/personal history, discussion of genetic testing procedures and possible test results, and medical management implications of genetic test results./ph3Qualifications/h3divulliWork requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through a Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics or closely related field./liliTwo to three years of work related experience required./liliGenetic Counselor credentialing license required (must meet Commission on Cancer (CoC) standard). nbsp;/liliMust have analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, attention to detail and problem resolution. nbsp;/liliMust possess strong customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills./liliProficient in EMR (EPIC/Cerner) and Microsoft products./li/ul/divh2Company/h2divpbSt. Joseph’s Health/b is recognized for the expertise and compassion of its highly skilled and responsive staff.
