This is an outstanding opportunity to help us grow in a sustainable and thoughtful way, to provide vision, leadership, and administrative direction to students, as part of The Student Union and student engagement at San Jose State University.nbsp; nbsp; Under the supervision of the Intramural Sports and Camps Supervisor, Intramural Sports and Camps Coordinator, and Intramural Sports Student Supervisors, the Intramural Sports Official enforces game rules and records game information for any number of intramural sports including basketball, flag football, soccer, volleyball, kickball, floor hockey, dodgeball, and wiffleball, and other assigned duties.br br strongDuties and Responsibilities/strong ulliLearn, apply, and enforce intramural sport rules to officiate and administrate sport contests./li liCommunicate game information with scorekeepers and supervisors./li liControl any disruptions occurring while games are in progress./li liComplete incident and accident reports when necessary with accurate and detailed information./li liAssist the Intramural Supervisors with team check-in, and conduct pre-game captains’ meetings in order to start each contest on time./li liAssist the Intramural Supervisors with setup and tear down prior to and following intramural events./li liBe professional at all times when interacting with staff, supervisors, fellow officials, players, and spectators./li liAttend all regularly scheduled staff meetings, training days, and workshops./li liPerform additional duties as assigned./li /ul nbsp;strongJob Requirements/strong ulliExcellent customer service, ability to manage conflicts, and create an inclusive environment./li liEffective verbal and written communication skills./li liAbility to quickly and effectively respond to emergencies.nbsp;/li liInterpret and implement proper policies and procedures for all emergencies./li liMaintain a professional appearance and attitude./li liAbility to develop effective working relationships with a diverse community clientele./li liAble to lift 45 pounds safely and stand for an extended period of time./li /ul nbsp;strongQualification and Specifications/strong ulliCurrent strongFirst Aid/CPR/AED certification,/strong American Red Cross preferred.nbsp; Online certifications will not be accepted./li liMust be a current matriculated SJSU student/li liPrevious experience with organized sports (playing, officiating, administrating) preferre/li /ul nbsp;strongGuidelines/strongbr This position is non-exempt from the provisions of Section 1 of the California Industrial Welfare Commission Orders.br br Hourly Wage: $19.00- $21.75/hourbr br strongAdditional Information:/strongbr Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Student Union at SJSU will issue a contingent offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current SU, Inc. employee who was offered the position on a contingent basis.br The standard background check includes: criminal check, employment and education verification. Depending on the position, a motor vehicle and/or credit check may be required. All background checks are conducted through the Student Union third-party vendor, Accurate Background. Some positions may also require fingerprinting.
