/ulh3Responsibilities/h3divp style="margin-left:0in;"The Conduct of Operations division is in search of a Nuclear Operations Specialist I. This entry-level position will support ongoing operations at the Nevada National Security Site. nbsp;/pp style="margin-left:0in;"stronguKey Responsibilities/u/strong/pulliAssist facility and project management within high hazard facilities with development of CONOPS culture founded upon specific hazards presented./liliProvide support and feedback during 3-year matrix updates as required per DOE O 422.1, “Conduct of Operations.”/liliDevelop knowledgeable and proficient skills with Conduct of Operations principles (shift turnover, communications, repeat backs, procedure/compliance, log-keeping, required reading, on-shift training, out-of-specifications, alarm response, lockout/tag-out, etc.) as disseminated through company policies, directives, and established work processes./liliGuide facility, project, and other company personnel concerning expected performance of company policies, directives, and established work processes./liliExercise judgment within level of responsibility as a CONOPS representative while allocated to a facility, project, document or procedure review team, or other working groups as directed./liliAccess buildings, conduct walk-downs evolutions, monitor human performance throughout routine daily operations. This may include observations of Authorization Bases and abnormal operation of installed facility structures, systems, and components in support of facility activities to ensure applicable requirements are met (i.e., Standard Operating Procedures [SOPs], DOE Orders, etc.)./liliPerform other related tasks as assigned by the manager.nbsp;/li/ul/divh3Qualifications/h3divulliBachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent training and experience./liliExperience working with requirements based systems for areas such as facility operations, maintenance operations./liliTraining or experience with high explosives handling and operations; or chemical handling, storage, transfer, and controlled release activities./liliTraining or experience in areas related to nuclear operations or nuclear maintenance such as those found at a DOE nuclear facility, commercial power plant, or US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program is a plus./liliFamiliar with or possess knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) of Conduct of Operations per DOE O 422.1./liliAbility to read and follow detailed instructions utilizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).nbsp;/liliConduct in-service inspections (ISIs) and system surveillances./liliRequires excellent verbal and written communication skills./liliComputer skills in MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook are desired./liliMust maintain highest levels of confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information and sensitive situations when required./liliThe primary work location is the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), located approximately 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, NV.nbsp;/liliWork schedule is Mon-Thurs (4/10), (subject to change)./liliPre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing./liliMust possess a valid driver’s license./li/ulp style="margin-left:0in;"MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
