Unit: Family Birthing Center / LDRP
Location: Monterey, CA
Shift: 12-hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: Weekends as needed; no block scheduling
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Charting System: EPIC
Scrubs: Provided
License to Submit: Yes
BSN Required: No
NICOTINE-FREE Facility: Nicotine included in drug screen
- Type: LDRP – full scope (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) with Mother-Baby Couplet Care
- Beds: 13 total (L&D, PP, Recovery combined)
- Birth Volume: ~105 births/month
- Ratios: AWHONN standards
- EFM System: Philips
- Scrub Techs / CNAs: None
- Neonatologist: Not in-house 24/7 (30 min response time)
- OB Hospitalist: In-house ~85% of the time, otherwise 30 min on-call
- Charge Nurse: Yes, usually not taking assignments
- Additional Support: May have triage/admit/resource RN
Minimum of 5 years of recent L&D experience (beyond training)
At least 3 prior travel assignments
Strong LDRP experience required (not just L&D)
Comfortable circulating in OR
Night shift requires scrubbing experience
Must be comfortable using EPIC
Must be able to work independently without midwife or midlevel support
Able to float between:
- Labor & Delivery
- Postpartum
- PACU (for recovering mothers only)
- OR (as circulator; scrub preferred)
- Mother-Baby overflow
- May float to sitter role if needed
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NRP
- Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
- STABLE – preferred but not required
- 12-hour shifts (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM)
- No block scheduling allowed
- Must be willing to work weekends as needed (could be every other)
- Holiday coverage required
- Call/Standby: May be placed on call for low census
- Cancellations:
- 1 shift per pay period (max 3 per 13-week contract, or 2 if <13 weeks)
- Fast-paced environment with high customer service expectations
- Must be confident, competent, and professional
- Independent and proactive work ethic required
- Must be comfortable managing entire labor process alone

- EPIC experience: Yes/No, and last time used
- Candidate email address
- Interview availability
- Detailed resume with LDRP experience clearly listed
- All RTO submitted upfront – no RTO will be approved after submission
Be prepared to answer:
- When did you last use Epic and for how long?
- When was your most recent L&D and Postpartum assignment?
- Are you comfortable rotating between both L&D and PP?
- Are your skills strong in both areas?
