div pspanstrongPOSITION SUMMARY:/strong/span/p pspanThe Lifeguard monitors the pool area, providing a safe experience for members, participants, volunteers, and staff./span/p pspanstrongSALARY RANGE:/strong $20.00-$24.00/hr/span/p pspanstrongRESPONSIBILITIES:/strong/span/p ul lispanActively scan the pool, looking for hazards and monitoring the safety of swimmers/span/li lispanConduct swim tests with young swimmers/span/li lispanAdheres to program standards, including safety and cleanliness standards, and ensures consistency with evidence-based practices/span/li lispanAttends staff meetings and trainings/span/li lispanFollows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies/span/li lispanOther duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisostrongr/strong/span/li /ul pspanstrongESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:/strong/span/p ul lispanLift equipment and a small- to average-size child./span/li lispanRemain in the pool area at all times./span/li lispanRemain alert, with no lapses of consciousness, in a warm environment with air temperatures of 80 degrees or higher./span/li lispanAdequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals./span/li lispanAbility to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision./span/li lispanSupport child or adult body weight in the water./span/li lispanRemain in water ranging from 80--90 degrees for one to four hours./span/li lispanCommunicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance, in normal and loud situations./span/li /ul /div
