Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Neuro Unit position in Tyler, TX, requiring a TX or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

• Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit (3 South) with 19 private rooms
\n
• Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients, including medical/surgical and neurology/neurosurgical diagnoses
\n
• Unit is equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
\n
• Patient ratio of 1:6
\n
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
\n
• Epic EMR experience required
\n
• 13-week contract
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active TX or compact RN license currently in hand
\n
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
\n
• Current certifications: BLS required; NIHSS preferred
\n
• Epic EMR experience required
\n
• Travel nursing experience preferred
\n
• Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
\n
• Experience with heparin protocols and PCA management
\n
• Experience with respiratory support including high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
\n
• Telemetry monitoring experience and ability to interpret dysrhythmias
\n
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
\n
• Candidates must reside outside the following TX counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
\n
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
\n
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
\n

\n
• Provides medical/surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with neurological, neurosurgical, and general med/surg diagnoses
\n
• Preferred skills include feeding tube care and management, telemetry remote monitoring, dysrhythmia management, tracheostomy care, pre/post hemodialysis management, and monitoring chemotherapy
\n
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
\n
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved; no RTO during the first week of orientation
\n
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration
\n
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
