American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Neuro Unit position in Tyler, TX, requiring a TX or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

- Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit (3 South) with 19 private rooms \n
- Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients, including medical/surgical and neurology/neurosurgical diagnoses \n
- Unit is equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring \n
- Patient ratio of 1:6 \n
- Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM \n
- Epic EMR experience required \n
- 13-week contract \n
- \n
- Active TX or compact RN license currently in hand \n
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required \n
- Current certifications: BLS required; NIHSS preferred \n
- Epic EMR experience required \n
- Travel nursing experience preferred \n
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care \n
- Experience with heparin protocols and PCA management \n
- Experience with respiratory support including high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management \n
- Telemetry monitoring experience and ability to interpret dysrhythmias \n
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac \n
- Candidates must reside outside the following TX counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris \n
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility \n
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration \n
- \n
- Provides medical/surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with neurological, neurosurgical, and general med/surg diagnoses \n
- Preferred skills include feeding tube care and management, telemetry remote monitoring, dysrhythmia management, tracheostomy care, pre/post hemodialysis management, and monitoring chemotherapy \n
- Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler \n
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved; no RTO during the first week of orientation \n
- All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration \n
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position \n
