American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) position at a cancer hospital, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and an OH or compact RN license.
Details- Work setting is a Medical ICU (MICU) within a cancer hospital
- Patient population includes adults and geriatric patients
- Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis
- Common treatments include mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, complex medication regimens, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis
- Many patients have underlying pulmonary and GI conditions requiring bronchoscopy or endoscopy
- Charting is performed in Epic (required)
- 13-week contract
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Schedule may rotate between days and nights based on departmental staffing needs; shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of MICU or ICU experience required
- Proficiency with mechanical ventilators required
- IV insertion skills required
- Epic EMR experience required
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Local candidates are accepted
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to placement and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or fewer
- Former employees of this facility are eligible to apply after a 6-month separation period
- Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be initiated promptly after accepting an assignment; candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to complete urgently
- Multiple parking permit options are available for purchase through CampusParc, ranging from on-campus garage access to budget surface lot options with shuttle service to the medical center
